MIC – History

Munich International Cricket club (MIC) was founded in 1992 out of the desire of several cricket enthusiast to play cricket in an independent, self financing and multi-racial club. Over the years, players from England, Scotland, Australia, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, New Zealand, Ireland, Germany, USA and even from Uganda have worn the treasured MIC Cap.

Since its formation MIC has been the Munich Cricket Association (MCA), now called Bavarian Cricket Verband (BCV), League Champions several times as well as representing Southern Germany in the National finals twice. We have also won the MCA knock out and many other trophies including, several times, the In-door championships in Munich, Passau and Tegensee.

Our Cricket does not confine itself only to Munich as we celebrate regular annual tours to Prague, Freiburg or for that matter the International Cricket Tournament in the picturesque town of Zuoz (near St.Moritz) in Switzerland. Our ground is located adjacent to the lovely Westpark (ca. 50 m), which boasts of one of the finest Beer Garden”s (Rosengarten) in Munich. Needless to say a cool refreshing “Mass-Bier” at the Rosengarten after our home matches makes one forget all the tiredness and sometimes also the frustrations or missed opportunities. However, its main use is that it provides a perfect platform for the “after match” analysis and an opportunity to share a social drink with our opposition.

MIC has been actively involved in promoting the game of Cricket to the local population for many years. In fact some of our players have gone onto to play for the German National side.

Deutsche Fassung

Our cricket ground is located at the Erasmus-Grasser Gymnasium.

The ground address is
Erasmus-Grasser-Gymnasium,
Fürstenrieder Straße 159,
81377 München

Here we play all of our home games. Social gathering after every game, happens at Rosengarten Biergarten which is located in less than 200 meters outside the ground.
